Every year on November 14, the World Diabetes Day is held worldwide. It was introduced in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization in response to the threat of increasing diabetes worldwide.
Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases that occurs with increased levels of glucose in the blood. Diabetes mellitus most often results in defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or even both.
Diabetes mellitus is a serious medical and social problem of the XXI century. The importance of the problem of the incidence of diabetes mellitus in the world is emphasized by the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2006 of the declaration on diabetes mellitus, which expresses concern about the increase in the incidence of diabetes mellitus in the world - a non-communicable disease that has the character of an epidemic.
