Gianni Rodari (1920 – 1980) was an Italian children's writer and the man who invented Cipollino. He was very popular in the USSR, and his books were widely translated, published and turned into movies. The poems and fairy tales of this writer are cheerful, bright and fascinating. His works not only sparkle with humor and boundless imagination but also contain quite serious reflections on important social issues.

Gianni Rodari developed his own method of story-making, the fantastic binomial, described in his book The Grammar of Fantasy. The method involves taking two completely unrelated words or objects and combining them in the most unusual way to create the basis for a new fantasy story.

The Foreign Literature Department invites you to watch the presentation ««Boundless Imagination of Gianni Rodari».
