Epilepsy Awareness Day is celebrated annually on March 26.

The concept of Purple Day was initiated by a nine-year old Canadian Cassidy Megan who suffered from epilepsy from an early age and experienced the negative attitude of her peers and adults. She told other people about the disease and explained there was nothing terrible about it. A year later, her initiative was supported by many students, politicians, and public organizations. Gradually, the celebration spread around the world.
