The Wild Heart of Joy Adamson

Joy Adamson was one of the pioneers in the world of wild animal exploration. Researching, studying, describing, rescuing, and caring for hundreds of animals and birds is what Joy Adamson did during her life in Africa from 1937 to 1980.

Joy Adamson has made a huge contribution to the development of ethology, the science that deals with the study of animal behavior. She has proved that animals are much smarter and much more emotional than previously thought, and that they can communicate with each other at a distance of many kilometers. Scientists believed that a tame animal would never be able to live and survive in the wild. Joy Adamson was one of the first to prove it wrong. She wrote many books about it that became bestsellers and were translated into many languages.

Joy Adamson founded four national parks in Kenya. She raised animals left without parents, provided financial help to organizations that were engaged in animal support. Her enthusiasm has largely led to what we now call the Green Movement. She managed to change the views of many people on their attitude to domestic and wild animals.
