In 1988, the World Health Assembly adopted a resolution declaring May 31 as World No Tobacco Day. Smoking is not just a bad habit, it is a global epidemic that claims up to 8 million lives every year. A million of them are victims of passive smoking.

For those who quit smoking, the advantages are noticeable almost immediately. After 20 minutes, the pulse is restored, the blood composition is normalized in just a day. After a year, the lungs are cleared, it becomes easier to breathe. After 10 years, the probability of developing cancer is halved.

Tobacco is a poison in any form. There is not a single study confirming that electronic cigarettes or tobacco heating devices are less harmful to health. Nicotine is a toxin in itself, in addition, its concentration is higher in electronic cigarettes, which leads to faster addiction.

Smoking does not allow you to breathe deeply. The purchase of tobacco products finances an entire industry based on the exploitation of low-paid labor and child labor. 200 thousand hectares of land are occupied for tobacco cultivation, farmers engaged in its collection and processing are more likely to get sick: nicotine penetrates through the skin, tobacco dust settles in the lungs.

The Scientific Literature Department invites you to view the presentation “May 31 – World No Tobacco Day”.
